What to Expect

What to Expect at your Appointment

The clinic is situated just outside of Durham city centre and provides care to the city and surrounding areas. The clinic has a very relaxed atmosphere and you will be welcomed by one of the friendly and experienced reception team.

Your First Visit

Your initial visit to the chiropractor will take approximately 45 minutes and will include a full and thorough medical history, physical examination (including any X-Rays/MRI that may be required) a diagnosis, a talk regarding the treatment plan and finally a treatment (if indicated). If further tests are required you will be referred to your GP to have these carried out.

The type of treatment that you will receive will vary depending on what is best suited to your condition(s). However, Neil mainly uses ABC and this will be the primary technique offered unless otherwise required. If acupuncture or elements of this form of treatment are recommended then this will be explained during the initial consultation.

Treatment Procedure

Treatment using ABC will consist of adjustments while standing up against the wall and while laying face-up on the bench. Generalised chiropractic treatment takes place primaerily on the bench.

Treatment using body acupuncture will involve laying on a treatment couch while the needles are administered. Auricular acupuncture can be done both lying down and sitting up.

Follow-up Appointments

Follow-up appointment times will vary between chiropractic and acupuncture however they are usually 15 minutes for chiropractic and 30 minutes for acupuncture.

Reassessment

A reassessment and evaluation will be carried out to assess progress at every 8-10 treatments and your treatment plan may be adjusted accordingly. On-going assessment is however carried out during every visit.
