Joint Pain

Do you Suffer from Joint Pain?

Pain and dysfunction can occur in any joint, the most common causes are trauma, arthritic changes, and joint dysfunction. Long-term dysfunction of a joint can lead to early onset degeneration (osteoarthritis). Joint dysfunction is most commonly secondary to another problem such as a spinal imbalance leading to abnormal stress and strain distribution throughout the body. A spinal imbalance can result in excessive pressure through a joint or series of joints and the most common cause of early-onset joint degeneration is abnormal stress through a normal joint. Overuse of muscles around the joints can also lead to joint pain. Trauma can leave long-term joint dysfunction and further increase the risk of degeneration if it is not corrected.

The joints most commonly affected by abnormal stress and strain distribution are the shoulders, hips, knees and ankles/feet. The facet joints and intervertebral discs (IVDs) of the thoracic and lumbosacral spine are also affected.

Treatment Options

Depending on the cause of your joint pain, there are several ways that chiropractic can help. It is important to remove abnormal body-wide stress and strain and allow the joint(s) to recover. Please contact us if you would like to know more.
